View Comments The first students to ever receive bachelor's degrees from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College will graduate this spring through the college's land surveying program, officials said. Like other Ohio community colleges, Cincinnati State has awarded two-year associate degrees and certificates only since 1969. But in 2018, the Ohio Department of Higher Education announced two-year institutions could propose applied bachelor's degree programs to the state chancellor. The proposals must be in fields where there is a strong workforce need, and no nearby four year college with a similar program. Cincinnati State was of the first community colleges to apply, requesting bachelor's degrees in land surveying and in culinary and food science. Both proposals have since been approved, and officials say the first culinary and food science bachelor's degrees will be awarded in spring 2023.
