The City of London Corporation has approved revised plans for a 15-storey tower near Aldgate underground station, including the “reimagining” of a historic City pub. The newly approved mixed-use scheme at 60 Aldgate High Street, which has been designed by Acme, expands on previously consented plans for an office building, but it now incorporates a rebuilt Still & Star Public House. The 19th-century pub, which was deemed an asset of community value in 2016, will be demolished but then rebuilt ”as a homage” to the original “slum pub” and relocated from Little Somerset Street to a more prominent location on Aldgate High Street.
