ANOTHER SIGN OF NORMAL: THE NEW YORK STATE FAIR... WILL MAKE A COMEBACK THIS SUMMER! BUTTER SCULPTURES, RIDES AND FAMILY FUN... WILL RETURN IN AUGUST. WHILE THE GOVERNOR HAS GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT -- ONE NORTH COUNTRY GROUP WON'T BE GOING. HERE'S NBC5'S BRANDON MENARD A SUMMER TIME STAPLE IS BACK THE GREAT NEW YORK STATE FAIR WILL BE ATTRACTING VISITORS AND VENDERS FROM ACROSS THE REGION. BUT---NOT ALL WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE PAST ARE RETURNING. CLINTON COUNTY 4-H HAS A HISTORY OF SENDING THEIR MEMBERS TO FAIR. BUT NOT THIS YEAR. TAKE SOT: (0:14) Mary Breyette - Executive Director, Cornell Cooperative Extension - When we get to the state fair you're really talking about more than one day, a possible overnight, what does that look like? I'm not saying that it can't be safe, but as far as I'm concerned it's really about the safety of our youth and volunteers. INSTEAD, THEIR FOCUS RIGHT NOW IS STAYING LOCAL. TAKE SOT: (0:16) We're really focusing on this year what can we do County fair-wise, what can we do if we can't do the county fair, what kind of fair experience, and last year they had nothing. So the fact that we can take little steps forward and do it safely is really what we're focused on. 4-H IS CONSIDERING GOING TO THE CLINTON COUNTY FAIR CLINTON COUNTY FAIR WHICH IS STILL SET TO KICK OFF THIS SUMMER. TAKE SOT: (0:15) Mike Perrotte - Clinton County Fair Manager - We're full steam ahead just like everything is normal. Obviously it won't be, you'll probably still have to wear a mask or some of the other guidelines that are in effect now. But we'll certainly hope it opens up and the attendance will open up so we can get everybody in here for the fair. AFTER NOT HAVING IT LAST YEAR, MIKE PERROTTE IS EXCITED FOR THE FAIR.
