　この大統領令は米連邦取引委員会（FTC）に対し、顧客による修理やサードパーティー店舗での修理をメーカーが制限することを防ぐ、新たな規則を作るよう指示するものだ。Bloombergによると、規則の適用範囲はFTCが判断することになるが、大統領令は携帯端末メーカーにも言及する見込みだという。
　大統領令は数日のうちに発令される見込みだと、Bloombergは報じている。
