What im told is they are talking to the District Attorneys office, Donald Trumps team, and they are currently negotiating what the date may look like. Now, i am told that the early indications from these conversations, that it will likely be next week. But again, this is all still being discussed among trumps lawyers and the Fulton County District Attorneys office. But one thing i want to point you to, boris, is that on monday donald trump has said that he is going to be hosting a News Conference at his club in bedminster, new jersey and then we also have the debate next wednesday with many of the 2024 republican candidates and again, its unclear if donald trump as well is going to be participating in those debates. My conversations with trumps team is as of now its not looking very likely. But this is all potentially on a Collision Course for next week. And two of those cases have been progressing along, and he is barely mustering up enough money to keep those cases going, to keep fighting them. And actually, this week he has a list of things he needs to pay for to keep these lawsuits afloat. So he is right now already facing the possibility that a judge could rule against him with finality in the case from the two Georgia Election workers. He could lose that and have a significant bill. He already has a bill of 89,000 and counting for legal fees of things that have happened so far in that case where they have had to fight over him getting electronic records. Theres another case, smartmatics case against him, he was just in court today arguing that hes not getting any more financial help, there was some financial help he got to the tune of 3 320 ,000 from Save America Pac to pay for some bills he needed to keep his records archived and to be able to produce them in the lawsuit, which is something that has to happen when youre a defendant in a lawsuit. And hes not going to be getting more financial help. That was what our reporter jeremy herb in the courtroom heard his lawyers say. And the judge, though, was unconvinced that he had a true Financial Hardship at this time there and so said that giuliani needs to go and pay for those records to be produced for smartmatic. So hes in the middle of these cases. Things are looking bad for the amount of bills he has to pay. Hes clearly struggling. Hes saying in court im struggling, i dont have the money. Katelyn, you also have some reporting for us about jack smith and evidence that hes collected as part of his effort to investigate the former president s attempt to overturn the 2020 election, specifically records from twitter. We learned last week that the Special Counsels office did subpoena or they got a warrant to get access to Donald Trumps twitter account, real donald trump, the account that was sthut down after january 6th. And not only did they get that data, were now learning through some unsealings in the Federal Court in washington, we can read transcripts now from how that developed between the Special Counsel and twitter, and theyre showing that not only does donald trump have direct messages, so private messages in that twitter account, theres a volume of them according to twitter that they were able to hand over to the Special Counsels office. Now, what those messages say is still a big question. We havent seen that in the indictment or any of the court papers of what the prosecutors have found those direct messages to say. But they have them. They exist. And theres major questions that prosecutors have had about what trump was saying written down in the moment on january 6th or in the days after or were other people using his account messaging people, what kind of messages were there. Why . Jim, federal removal is available when a defendant has engaged in official conduct. The supreme court, the case is called nixon v. Fitzgerald, has defined that so a well, it has to be official, it needs to be somewhere within the outermost perimeter, the furthest boundaries of official conduct. And based on the evidence that we already know publicly and what fani willis has charged here, essentially shes saying mark meadows participated in an attempted coup and the alleged overturn of a election outcome in georgia that is fundamentally a campaign or a political matter. So based on the evidence, it looks like its not an official act. It cant be, if you think about it under the constitution. An official act to engage illegally. And theres other factors like the fact that the white house doesnt have a role in adjudicating state election results. So steep hill. Youre saying its not an official act because it was campaignrelated or because it was potentially illegal . That it was not a nice official act as it all of the above. Theres a very important 11th circuit case, the balcomb case that is going to come into play here which says if it was not official, if it was not done in good faith, if it was done with criminal intent or if it has any other of these badges of impropriety then its not immune. And this really speaks to one of the challenges the white house is facing. Just to give you the numbers of how this is impacting everyday americans, in the month of july, last month, americans spent 709 more on the same goods and services as they did two years ago. So still feeling that inflationary those inflationary prices. A lot of that, though, because of the high cost of shelter or rent. So the Inflation Reduction Act<\/a> is really designed to combat a lot of this, and there are certain things that we are seeing already since this took effect a year ago. As arlette mentioned, a big thing that a lot of americans wanted to see was a cap on insulin prices, especially under medicare. So theres a 35 cap on insulin. We also have seen job creation already. 45,000 or so ev jobs created in the last six months. And 170,000 jobs created across 34 states. And then in terms of Household Savings<\/a> potentially 1,800 in Household Savings<\/a> if americans decide to modernize their energy within their home. Obviously that is an investment in itself. But you know, as you heard from the press secretary there, this is a longterm investment. And the white house saying that they are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in trying to create jobs, in trying to bring down the cost of everyday prices for americans, but thats going to be over a decade, right . And i think its safe to say that Defense Officials<\/a> here view the report coming from north korean state media with a healthy measure of skepticism. A u. S. Defense official told us after the report came out that they could not verify the alleged claims. Instead, the defense official said the focus of the u. S. Remains on bringing travis king home. In terms of what was in this report, north korean state media claims that king had confessed that he illegally intruded into north korea from a tour in the Joint Security Area<\/a> there on the border there, the dmz, and that he, quote, harbored ill feeling against inhuman maltreatment and Racial Discrimination<\/a> within the u. S. Army. So it seems there that at least according to north korean state media that king had confessed to running over, that he was trying to escape the u. S. Army. Dprk authorities, north korean authorities, are responsible for traviss wellbeing. And she continues to appeal to them to treat him humanely. Were also watching in arkansas as State Education<\/a> Officials Say<\/a> that students enrolled in that course will not be able to receive credit that counts toward graduation. One of the impacted schools is Central High School<\/a> in little rock. It was there in 1957 that nine black students enrolled at the school after a ruling that desegregated public schools. They faced an angry white mob and the States National<\/a> guard as they tried going in on their first day. They had to be escorted in weeks later, an important moment in american history. Lets expand the discussion over whats happening in arkansas with the president of the Arkansas Education<\/a> association, april reisma. April, thanks so much for joining us this afternoon. You implied in a statement that this move and specifically the timing of it is part of a pattern designed to marginalize students. What do you think is behind it . Well, theres definitely a movement going through the states. And i dont want it to happen here in arkansas. Whats happened in florida scares us here. Its of grave concern to all of our members and quite frankly to the students here in arkansas who were signed up to take this course. There were four courses slated to begin on monday. And to hear about it being canceled for credit on friday is disheartening and just pulls the rug right out from under those kids. What is it that you think the people behind this movement as you describe it are fearful that kids might learn because of this course . The truth. Could that be it . I dont think that we need to take any of that away from our students. They need to learn from the past. If we learn from our past, we can make our future stronger. So april, the Communications Director<\/a> for the governor, Sarah Huckabee<\/a> sanders, said in a post online that there is another African American<\/a> history class that students can receive credit for. She implied that this other class isnt based on opinion and indoctrination. Im wondering what your response to that is. Whats the difference between the two courses . Well, lets take a look at what an a. P. Course really is. Its based on primary and secondary sources. Thats not opinion. Those are facts. Facts about history. And when its a strenuous class like an a. P. Course thats accepted by colleges as credit, it cannot be based on opinion. And so im not sure what kind of opinion theyre looking at for that, but its definitely very far away from opinionbased for sure. Now, at the University Of Arkansas<\/a> along with 200 other colleges and universities are accepting this a. P. Course. For them to realize that it is based on fact is simply just outstanding evidence to me that it should be accepted for College Credit<\/a> and High School Graduation<\/a> credit right here in arkansas and quite frankly any state in this union. Thats such an important distinction that you made, that Colleges Even<\/a> within the state are accepting it as credit. I do want to ask you about Central High School<\/a>. I know that some 100 students had enrolled in the course there this year. Obviously this decision carries an added significance given the history there. Definitely. And the kids came out this morning and they were on tv and they spoke about it themselves. Thats whoo its affecting. Its affecting the future of america. Its affecting these Young Students<\/a> that were looking forward to learning the truth, to enriching their education, to preparing for their future. And its just sad that its being taken away from them. It is our sincere hope that the department thinks twice about this and goes ahead and considers it eligible for College Credit<\/a> and High School Graduation<\/a> credit. What options do those students have that were enrolled in this course and now were finding out or the friday before School Started<\/a> on monday are finding out theyre not going to get credit for it . Right. So thats what the School Districts<\/a> are looking into right now. As far as its concerned right now, its being considered for local credit, and the University Of Arkansas<\/a> has come out in a statement saying that they will still accept it. But the students will have to pay for the exam fee at the end of the year, which is 90, which is normally covered by the department of education. And let me tell you, the citizens, the voters here in the state of arkansas have been coming out in droves with money willing to pay for these kids to take the exam. And i think that that should be information them to understand how important this is to everyone here, to parents, to the teachers, to the voters who will remember this in november. And im just so excited about all of those folks coming together and wanting to take care of the fees for these kids, but they should not have to. Lets not lets not do that to the students.
