Stephen Colbert is applauding Dr. Seuss Enterprises for announcing that the business will discontinue the release of six books from the authorâs dense catalog, including And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street and If I Ran the Zoo. âItâs a responsible move on their part,â the Late Show host said Tuesday. âDr. Seuss books should be fun for all people: Black, white, straight, gay. Sneetches both star-bellied and plain. Loraxes, Bar-ba-loots, all the Whos down in Whoville, and the strange, angry creature named Foo-Foo the Snoo.â Even though there wasnât a huge public outcry that led to this decision, there had long been criticism of these particular Dr. Seuss books for containing insensitive, racist imagery that dehumanizes people of color.
