Collsion Resulting In Pedestrian Death Under Investigation Bay City News Service FacebookTwitterEmail FREEDOM (BCN) An afternoon collision that killed a pedestrian Tuesday in an unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Investigators say Pinky Higgins, 55, of the town of Aromas, was driving a 2006 Volvo XC eastbound on Freedom Boulevard east of Hames Road in the community of Freedom shortly after 2 p.m., when the SUV, for reasons undetermined, went off the road and struck a 25-year-old woman walking on the shoulder. Medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. An 82-year-old passenger in the SUV was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
