Ryan Sullivan, the park’s director for public relations and outreach, encouraged visitors to be mindful and think about their role in the world. “When one walks the land mindful of where one is in the season, and observes the natural processes, it becomes obvious everything is interconnected, and human presence does impact that,” Sullivan said. People can also draw parallels between the changing seasons and the seasons of their own lives. “Earth Day, for me, is tied inextricably to the energies and patterns of spring, and the bursting forth of new life, the resumption again after a long hibernation,” Sullivan said.
