At least six communities are joining Boston in announcing new or reimposed COVID-19 restrictions, in response to surging numbers of cases and hospitalizations.
"We've been in close contact with the communities all across greater Boston. We're going to take a regional approach for maximizing effectiveness," Walsh said. "Several cities and towns are taking steps this week with modifications fit to their particular needs."
Walsh said the list of communities planning announcements includes Arlington, Brockton, Lynn, Newton, Somerville and Winthrop.
"We would prefer the state issue today’s advisories, but understand they may be bound by other pressures," Arlington Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine said. "In absence of state-wide advisories, Arlington, as a dense suburb, will work with our regional neighbors to issues guidance to reduce the spread of the virus."
