In October 2018, Cononley Village Shop closed its doors much to the dismay of residents. Discussions quickly followed about opening a community shop, but just one year later, residents rejoiced when Bradley-based Sandra and Tony Waite stepped in to inject new life into this much-loved hub of the community. A year on, and Sandra and Tony’s re-vamped village store has proved to be a lifeline. In addition to the usual corner-shop essentials, the store boasts a wide selection of produce and Sandra’s environmental ethics are clear to see – from her bottle refilling station for household and personal cleaning products, to locally sourced meats, pies, dairy products, cakes, preserves, artisan breads and greetings cards created by local artists.
