(Special to The Globe) WORTHINGTON — Hometown boy Larry Lang will be missed by folks all over the world. Lang, who died Monday at Worthington's Crossroads Care Center at age 66, was known in Worthington and beyond for his world-famous onion rings, which he served at Michael's (his dad) Steakhouse for many years. He grew up in the restaurant and spent decades of his life cooking Chicago-class fare in several regional eateries. High school classmate Alan Oberloh recalled fond memories of attending junior high chefs' club with Lang. Even as a teenager, "Larry could make about anything," he said.
