He said the measure was more cost effective within the project. Work was also extended further south along Sunset Drive, the spokesman said. "The upgrade of Parklands Boulevard, including large scale relocation of utility services, was originally forecast to cost Sunshine Coast Council $13.5 million," a council spokesman said. Mayor Mark Jamieson said the project demonstrated the Sunshine Coast's rapid growth in population. "It's significant that we're upgrading this not so long after this road was initially built," Mr Jamieson said. "Wouldn't it have been great if the leaders at the time had forecast how much more road we would actually need.
