Construction begins at future Halifax Health urgent care in DBS

Work on the future site of Halifax Health's urgent care center in Daytona Beach Shores began recently, a little over a year after the City Council unanimously approved the lease agreement, according to hospital officials.
The south side of the city's former senior center has been demolished while the north side is being refurbished by Halifax Health.
Once construction and updates are completed, Halifax Health will begin a 20-year lease of the 3,100- square-foot building at 3048 S. Atlantic Ave.
Since 2017, there has been a lack of urgent care services on the beachside after Hurricane Irma caused irreparable damage to Florida Hospital Oceanside in Ormond Beach. The former hospital was demolished in the summer of 2019.
