Corps of Engineers asking for public comment on Goose Island project February 18, 2021 11:28 AM Jourdan Vian ST. PAUL, Minn. (WKBT) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District is looking for people to weigh in on its draft environmental assessment of the Goose island cultural resource protection project. The project, which is proposed for Pool 8 of the Upper Mississippi River, is intended to protect a section of shoreline of the island, which would preserve the archaeological site. The Corps is planning to put rock riprap onto the existing shoreline to combat erosion in the area of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.
