Northern Star DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 7,942. Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,308 are younger than 19, 1,849 are in their 20s, 1,181 are in their 30s, 1,130 are in their 40s, 1,012 are in their 50s, 694 are in their 60s, 396 are in their 70s and 372 are 80 or older. As of Friday, 99 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD. DeKalb County has administered 5,810 vaccines as of Friday, 1.1% of the county population, according to state vaccine data. At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 69 staff members and 52 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, six DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.
