Elmira Star-Gazette Finn Academy charter school in Elmira moved closer to reopening its doors for in-person instruction next week with help from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. A group of third-year and fourth-year LECOM students held a testing clinic Wednesday in the gym at Finn Academy for students and staff. The testing is mandated because Finn Academy is located in the orange zone imposed in parts of Chemung County in October by Gov. Andrew Cuomo due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. Schools within the zone had to go to all virtual learning initially, and had to set up a program to test a percentage of students and staff for the virus every week as part of requirements for reopening classrooms.
