EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Vanderburgh County reported 22 new COVID-19 cases Thursday but reported 791 more residents became fully vaccinated. The number of fully vaccinated persons in Vanderburgh, Gibson, Posey and Warrick counties is now approaching 80,000. The percent of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 remained in double digits for all four counties, with Vanderburgh at 10.1 percent, Warrick at 13.3 percent, Posey at 13 percent and Gibson at 23 percent. Vanderburgh is the only Evansville-area county this week to remain in the "blue," which connotes minimal spread of the virus, despite an increasing rate of positive testing of 69 per 100,000 of population. The Indiana State Department of Health publishes a color-coded map each week with four colors each signaling a particular severity of the outbreak.
