This is 15 minutes. [indiscernible] thank you president of these great United StatesPresident Trump. Thank you for inviting us not hope code talkers navajo code talkers. We have today three navajo code talkers of world war ii. One is 97 years old, a veteran of world war ii. His Landing Craft blown up, and had to swim to the beach to survive. ,he got shot up real badly survived one year in naval hospital. , also one of the code talkers who were on iwo jima, a tough battle. Three Marine Divisions landed on iwo. It was part of it the code talkers within the fifth Marine Division. Corps was notne enough, he enlisted in the United States army, served in the korean war, survived that awful battle. My name is peter mcdonald. I am the president of the 13 surviving navajo code talkers. I went in. I am 90 years old. I went in when i was 15 years old in 1944 and was with the st marine date on guam first marine brigade on guam and then went on to north china with six Marine Division to get those japanese and northern china to surrender. They didnt want to surrender, but it took six Marine Divisions to get them to surrender eventually. We had a separate treaty october 20 china 1945. 945 october 25, navajo code talkers in the early part of world war ii, the enemy was breaking every military code being used in the pacific. For created a huge problem strategizing against the enemy. A suggestion was made february, to use navajo language as a code. Recruited 29 young them whatot telling they were being recruited for because this was a topsecret operation. Asked, do you want to join the marines . Do you want to fight the enemy . Come join the marines. Navajos joined the marines in 1942. After going through boot camp, passing boot camp with flying colors, combat training the same thing, then into Marine Corps Communications school. Has to that passed that. Then they were taken to his topsecret location just east of san diego camp elliott. That is where they created a military code to be used in the pacific. Codewords, ing 260 the 29 young marines, half of them were sent overseas to join the first Marine Division. The first Marine Division was getting ready to go on the first offensive move in the pacific. 1942, 75 years ago, first Marine Division hit the ofof bottle can now the canal was 15 navajo code talkers. This was where the first navajo code was to be tested in actual how our memory would be under heavy enemy fire. Landing,ks after the the commander of the first Marine Division sent word back to the United States saying this navajo code is terrific. The enemy never understood it. We dont understand it either. But it works. Send us some more navajos. So that opened up the gate for the United States marine corps in san diego to start recruiting more and more navajos using the same tactics. You want to fight . You want to join the marines . You want to wear this beautiful blue uniform . Come join the marines. So we all volunteered. Thats how he went in, thats how he went in, thats how i went in. Boot camp, combat training, communication school. Then we go to that special topsecret navajo code to school to learn to code. Initially 260 codewords all subject to memory only. Eventually, by the time the war ended in 1945, there were , andf us that went to war the codewords grew to 600 codewords subject to memory only. In every battle, two networks were established, navajo Communication Network were all topsecret, nigel messages. The second network, it was network for all of the messages. Ode talkers were used. Major connor said the first 48 ours of battle, over 800 messages were sent by the fifth oring division only. E first 48 hours, over 800 essages were sent. Major connor said without nave have arines would never aken the island of iwo jima. Thank you very much. He 13 of us, we still have one mission. That mission is to build a National Navajo code talker museum. We want to preserve this unique World War Ii History for our children, grandchildren, your children, your grandchildren, to go to that museum. Why . Because what we did truly represents who we are as americans. America we know is composed of diverse communities. We have different languages, different skills, different talents and different religions. When our way of life is threatened, freedom and liberty that we all cherish, we come together as one and when we come together as one, we are invincible, we cannot be defeated, that is where we need this National NavajoCode Talkers Museum so that our children, the future generation can go through that museum and learn why america is so strong. Thank you very much for listening. [applause] President Trump that was so incredible, now i dont have to make my speech. I had the most beautiful speech written out, i was so proud of it. Look. It really has been learning about you and what you have done it has been something that i would like general kelly to say to the press. Being associated with the u. S. Marines, it is as much a cult as it is a service. We never forget. Our motto is always faithful. Whether you are a young recruit at parris island, or a middleaged guy from out west, but these amended, the event is hey gave advantage they get ur marines was one of the very few factors that allowed us to be successful in that island. Their ability to out with the japanese, listening to this wonderful language and had no idea what language existed on the earth, what they did, a small number of men made the ifference. 6,000 marines and 25,000 wounded in that area in 28 days of battle, it would have been a lot worse had we not had a code talk. [applause] they are working on building a Navajo Code Talkers Museum and we will help you. Ok . We have some pretty good strength. You deserve it, i want to thank you all for being here, i assume you are the young one in the group . Thank you so much for being here. Youre very special people. We are going to have a tremendous i think we will have great receptivity, we have had great spirit, i will tell you the republican senators were up if we win, well get some Democratic Senators joining us. If we dont win, they wont be joining us. You understand that. If we win, i think we will probably have a bipartisan bill meeting the number of people will come over. Im not so interested in that, we are really interested in getting it passed. It will be the biggest tax reduction in the history of our country, it will bring jobs and income coming into the country, buying product, etc. I think is doing very well. I think were going to have i think it is going to benefit everybody. It is mostly going to benefit people looking for jobs more han anything else because we are giving great incentives. 4 trillion, that is outside the country because our tax laws can come back in and we will be bringing back at least the the number will be substantially higher.
