Web site for those in the house sent courtesy that the mobile devices have been silent those watching on line and hosting the program for girl serving as a Senior Communications advisor. [applause] bin afternoon you are in for a treat. Our speaker does not need a huge introduction six hours a day on the airwaves three hours in the morning on fox and friends of president treated a nice show about doing a great job. And then nine thru noon with the Brian Kilmeade show was also a prolific author of five books the last five of which have been on three of the most famous president s washington and Thomas Jefferson now Andrew Jackson. The first to read the New York Times bestseller list and will not doubt that jackson will find itself there as well as a book filled with Great Stories and great history. It says a lot about the people of the book with the unsung men and women. With the generals like jackson made famous. Your names and faces may not be no by the world but youre never forgotten by me. Brian kilmeade. [applause] thank you very much. As a true professional we did it interview last week but up the heritage wouldbe tired of me banal but with the audiovisual presentation with no extra money. And then to give you the idea and then when you found when you got started for girl so how much time i should be. With the war on statues. And hugh sinn gps. Just to give you an idea where i came from. Back in 1996 and mostly sports. There wasnt a place for sports. And then when things got serious watching the tanks roll in from iraq to get different row seat at the Number One News Network of all time in never not expected to not be successful and it has been to the point not only number one in news but i think it is becoming is the type of people that get hired who happen to be very fortunate to communicate with america and i apologize but the world does not revolve around washington or losses angeles and new york and we have respect for the people in the middle. The games to account. But the fourth career was incredibly average for girl and then they get wasted a lot of time in college but with that sporting event. I played basketball ive played tennis. I wish i worked harder as a football player. And betty has a great sports story. What about those that our noteworthy . Most of the time it can be labeled failure. Talking to 73 people and 92 how to play the game. To have some type of failure to fall short of your goals like that my failure of the way some sports career is no problem. And it is a breach sorry took some time off. To say i love history and that is all i read. And then i got this the arabia with oreilly there is a spy ring and without that we go live in the revolutionary war so i have been studying since 1998. When i saw a National Treasure nicolas cage i thought this really happened the with the board. And among those that thought that was washington himself. And then bringing to the forefront and i would do it that is why i wrote to George Washingtons secret sex it did extremely well much better than anybody thought. And extremely patriotic. And then to be a fan of history. And if you like stories. And if they check to of the three boxes they dont like the book. End with that profs to have another passion in their right for each other and another book what are you passionate about . Every time you see a war on terror that we reference every six weeks really it was Thomas Jefferson that i finally stopped research to do the tripoli pirates finding of a rope these nations there were also using our ships as an opportunity to enslave the croats and ask for ransom. But america stood up to find out to send a message to the rest of the world. To do so much of his life. That is an avenue of thought we could explore. It was never one for a while because people like stories they can feel and touch with the Jefferson Library and to do something special. They did stand up for a while he hit the high now your twothirds through. [laughter]. What they wanted was new orleans was a mishmash of troops and not supposed to go out that would be suicide. Annette would need a miracle to stop christmas and just knew where to go. So with the battle of the womens . To date back hundreds of years and among those people majorgeneral Andrew Jackson himself with the Catholic Church with the battle of the war ruins of. With that divine intervention revealing 1850s. This could become a blood bath. With the birth of modern america. That would be one of the most stunning upset victories. Jackson and left the estate when he was done with the battle of new orleans he became a National Star may be the most famous america to fight for freedom with the two terms in the white house as one of the most consequential in our history. His wall is still there. [laughter] the more you look the more youll understand what is happening and this is the numbers that the hermitage was 5,000 against 9,000 british. In terms of being killed they had 1262 wounded some were blown apart. We did a great job killing their officers. Three generals dead seven colonels said 75 officers. So we took out the officers and were playing for keeps we had nowhere to go as you can see a lot of times. But this was a route to terrorizing the of intercos. They had drawn up a letter of secession. If you think 2017 is challenging that is nothing to a we have been to on the past. Wellingtons and vegetables it is on the tip of my tongue of napoleon. A good guy. Then they come finish us off even though the numbers are strong. When this book and then break it down by the title role interjects and why is he special . Endorphin at 30 and this is his older brother the revolutionary war, neither brother taken prisoner older brother 14 dies because of the wound suffered after he is captured his mom goes to help her sister then she dies because they trump arrives at his house with her stuff. At 13 years old he is raised by his country. Guest the guy who is patriotic he saw what everyone did he could be successful he wanted to pay back the country he bled red white and blue. So instead of us an excuse he became the attorney general in 1791 in tennessee than the house of representatives, bin to the senate served as a judge and then a Major General and the last thing to his resume may to return president of the united states. That will resonate and i hope it does because this is the american dream. Dont tell me what you have for where you start to where i finish because giving you the opportunity to pursue happiness we dont guarantee anything. I have gotten calls and emails i cannot give that his whole life but to think that this life should not be on a pedestal i think is a reach it is the arrogance of regeneration to consider taking down his statue of but if you talk about columbus and jackson not because hes perfect but i will give you an idea in the traits that he displayed with the model that he had the british had run over washington that they have had success he said it is true the enemy threatens invasion but it is deeply true with approval we will be to read every point so they attack the british with acts and i as handguns in 90 minutes with 500 read casualtys and said who is this guy . With dysentery can fire a bunch of americans to attack the british they thought it would in even be relevant to american on the International Scene another reason why a fellow love with this story they were not the marines of South Carolina or new york but indians and militiamen and sharpshooters that did not miss the british rock about that you can get those accounts then free men of color and pirates together they are forces that do they remembered we get paid the same you eat the same your arm to the same. They told people in 1815 that you treat people of all colors and persuasions. A lot of people back then said if you want to fight they are fighting. That is how they were treated. It is the symbolism which makes me conclude a couple of things that americas strength of diversity because to put Everything Else behind under the belief if you believe in yourself finding a way to win in america does and we start off doing the right thing with the war tactics but we just until we win with those lizard generals that led the troops to protect washington and refine the col day Major GeneralAndrew Jackson begging to be put in the game because he was not from virginia he was from massachusetts are part of the in crowd the when they need someone to fight with the worse secretary of for they got a new one. Monroe said i am getting jackson and i will let him fight. Rules of engagement lead it happen. Great americans rise at this time they need it most they put it in print but unlike washington he taught himself how to be a leader and he came up with us to see what the british did to implement his own Tactics Program guy whod came through but in terms of philosophy one that was cool that drove him his entire life feel is remembered his mom told him they friends by being honest keep them by being steadfast and never take july settled cases yourself. He did but he did not fight for go he killed somebody never took a backward step which reminds me of another person occupying the white house. The similarities between them is not in this book but it has been pointed out by President Trump himself the president is somebody took his case to the people of and also sidelined running for president believe were not it was jackson. Neither was President Trump and is still not. Also obsessed with the media. I have a pitcher posted tomorrow on fox and friends for caretaking in taking a. [inaudible] of the hermitage he said those are the newspapers. He would look at them to make notes not true. Never happened. Contact to the reporter. [laughter] putting into binders to keep them believe there are three piles of sure if i did it would turn to dust and then what is extraordinary to look at it as he saw it. Good job for pope you wanted done right then hire a good reporter the way you think is right and obviously the hair which is distinctive and in the event comfortable with the family around them. So Heart Failure over the controversy that came up with a run for office. And so to diminish Andrew Jackson. And then to have bankruptcys. That is like giving as 10 and then we become billionaires. But then those controversial things. And there is a plainly confident they are doing the right thing. I stopped at the battle of coming back as the great leader as one of the most lauded in the country so Abraham Lincoln said how did he handle it with South Carolina . He used force. Donald trump said that he was president during the civil war rekindle that. And then said he will not put up with anyone breaking up the union. Number three another leader was Teddy Roosevelt did in world war ii was about to start fdr went to a the hermitage and said comeuppance see the outside he said i have to walk it he wanted to feel the founder of the Democratic Party to understand each channel that leadership absolutely true. When Ronald Reagan in treatment takes over he had a figure read on his desk as a captain of world war i and then he ended at being a great president but then with modern times to do is stand up in front of the statue as a very respected president ial historian in said it you know, why were standing here . Because Ronald Reagan demanded to have his photogenic for Time Magazine in front of jacksons statue. You may think i am overstating the book but that exact prototype is what we ended up on the 2011 so thrilled to talk about a battle that nobody thought we could win and leslie not only did we have to fight the battle he was quoted to say or the british would tear of the treaty and keeping it. Doing the of hard work to show they have every intention to make sure reword not going to go past the mississippi with that economic powerhouse after that they realize we cannot stop it. Game over we dont control the mississippi or become the america we are today. That is Andrew Jackson the miracle of new orleans with a Great AmericanSuccess Story. As i examined the crowd high intellect or curious . And even take some questions thats why i brought the extra zero bader. I love researching it. And i. M. Throw that mecham does that and then as well as general the crystal. To be accurate end keith removing and thankfully they did that. [applause] you mentioned a the early background are you aware or have you reflected what drove him . He was very driven individual. With that difficulty of bringing . You have two choices. Even remember getting a thing called Christmas Present your birthday present . You can say i dont matter or i am determined to matter. To make sure people knew that he battered. The indian fighter the creek indians, and there were other fights that were unnecessary and said i have to do what is necessary. And to adopt the indian child. So he could not have kids on his own. And kept moving and kept moving and that is why and why it happened so long ago to say i have no excuse. End to get the attention whatever your challenges make yourself the next Success Story to have great satisfaction to try to make it happen. Get in the game a lot of these were volunteers. With these legal cases. I have two questions if i could. One has to do with what do you think motivated this army of diverse folks to join him in the first place and then how did you find time to write this . I did it in sections and i would do it in bursts. We had a strategy now of find the topic, write the summary. You could end up in michigan for way too long and canada. Theres a lot of things not in this book that are harder to do and then you write the chapters and the summaries and little by little we blow up the chapters. Then try to get a history that brings something new to the story. We tried to do something new to the story and i think we found some of that. In the big picture, it looks like a lot of work. But in the course of two years, doing it in bursts i think it is more chunks makes it more digestible for me. [inaudible] they were so brutal and horrible on the east coast, they didnt want to suffer the same fate. Number two, they wanted to be american. Number three, he has that special thing we see with coaches, feared and revered. People didnt want to let him down, they wanted someone to rally around and saw how we treat everyone equally if we had the same objective and they said we will do it. He was like no they are criminals. Listen, theyve got flint and ammo, they know where it is so basic in return you know what we want, we want freedom from all the charges. He got the okay from madison and they look back to being pirates the way i understand it. How much do we put . Well, im way off track. Back to the story. The one chapter i wrestle with more than anything else is the history of new orleans. Its mindnumbing between the french and then doing the book out loud is worse. You sit there and say how do you say that. By this time i made a conscious effort to talk slower so hopefully i will get less hate mail [inaudible] france and spain and new orleans and the fact eight team 12 had been going for a while and the army came out of nowhere. Did those other countries have any involvement with this army or did they in any way take sides in what happened at new orleans . The spanish were barely holding on to spain when we confronted and gave them 24 hours to get out and they left. So it was a oneonone situation in terms of globalism and colonialism but i would add no one likes the strongest guy on the block and that is what we have been experiencing. In way of being arrogant and acting like thugs. And it was fascinating to find out when they go to alexander they know how much would it cost not to destroy us and they said well here and they came up with the money not to destroy it so thats where they were. It was fascinating to find out they put it together in three weeks, but they doubled the size. One and a half in three weeks. What is also fascinating is he doesnt know. They land on the 23rd and they fight for ththefight for the dee eighth and he doesnt know when they are coming but he knows this. He has a military parade with his new army and they start drilling and playing music and getting their spirits up and he says i have an idea. Lets build a wall and build a moat. We have to get god on our side. Lets convert that to a hospital. The composure he had under pressure in some very rare. Im reading a book on grant it seemed they had a good thing so i think jackson thrived under that pressure. My opinion is also the reason people are in all is because the contemporaries knew very few people like him. You want to please him you dont want to let him down and you also know hes capable of breaking even half and hes also in my sports analogy i look at him as a players coach because he understood what they are going through and didnt feel like an elitist where he would walk with the infantry. They had to go back and everyone was exhausted and they started having some type of flu so he gave up and they walked so i think people appreciated that and all of the elements combined along with the same by the way if you dont want to fight with me dont think you have to stay in new orleans because im going to burn this place down, that would motivate me, too what top three Leadership Qualities did you find and how can those Leadership Qualities be applied here in 2017 . Be demanding that understanding. Theres got to be some kind of fear and number three is cool and calm under pressure. Whatever happens when the world speeds up youve got to slow it down, and youve got to want that moment. You
