Transcripts For CSPAN2 Charlie Kirk The MAGA Doctrine 20240713

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the next in library and welcome to this replica of the east room. Im a board member in the Nixon Foundation as grandson of the 30 seventh president Richard Nixon. It is my honor and pleasure to have you at the library and im glad to welcome you to the library. I see a lot of new faces in the crowd which makes me excited and i see a lot of young faces in the crowd meaning a lot of young conservatives. So that is great to see and i encourage all of you after the event to walk around the library, one of my Favorite Places for obvious reasons, one of my Favorite Places in the world, the birthplace is beautiful, weve done one of the exhibits in the library, a lot of new stuff to see and if you come back you can visit the archives and do research into my fathers presidency. I am happy to have you here today but of course tonight, today we will begin our program by honoring our nation as we always do. Will you please welcome our special guest today, charlie kirk. [applause] and ladies and gentlemen, please remain standing for all who can stand for the presentation of colors and the singing of our national anthem. And the rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still a oh say does that starspangled banner yet wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave ladies and gentlemen, given other round of applause to Detroit High School Navy Honor Guard and villa Parks High School Jazz Ensemble for the beautiful tribute to our nation. So there are rare moments in life you realize how old you are getting. I have been coming here for decades and this is the first time i will be introducing someone who is significantly younger than i am. This is a new experience for me. Im very excited about that. We are very happy to have charlie kirk with us tonight, today. Hes a Great American and a great thinker, author, political figure if i call him that but it is an honor to have him here today, the founder of turningpoint usa. Im sure many of you are aware of it. I would call it the preeminent Educational Organization for our children today teaching children the values that made the United States great. [applause] that is what is so needed on our campuses today not just at the College Level but the High School Level and even the Elementary School level. That is the greatest danger to our country, what is happening in the School System and we need the voice of people like charlie kirk to show kids that there is another option than what is being taught in schools and that option is the right way to live the life the right way to support the country and that is what is so exciting to see people get involved and teach our kids about what is important about the conservative movement. That is why it is great to have charlie here today. When turning point was found that i was at the convention with charlie kirk, you should come to this meeting, we have a great meeting set up. Im interested in funding this organization, you should come with me. I have to do a couple other things. That shows why foster freeze is an essential billionaire and im where i am, he made a decision to back charlie. We are excited to have charlie, he will talk about his book the maga doctrine the only ideas that will win the future which not only is a great defense of Donald Trumps record of growing jobs, keeping the United States safe, he will be known as a Great Peacemaker around the world, great defense of that but not just the defense, the book is forwardlooking, the book says how the United States, people of the United States can defeat socialism that is growing too strong in the United States. [applause] this is what i admire most about charlie, not just policy descriptions. He weaves philosophy into this. He talks about edmund burke and makes references to edmund burke, one of my grandfathers Favorite Book, my Favorite Book the conservative mind, he also compares Kathy Griffin to the elites in rome who murdered cicero. This is heady stuff. That is a wonderful part of his book. On a personal level i was drawn to the parts of the book that talked about how donald trump has broken the stalemate between republican and democratic parties in washington, taken a sledgehammer to the elites that ran washington from both parties. And the reason why this is so personal to me is my grandfather did the same in the 1970s but he didnt have allies like fox news and charlie kirk to defend him for what he was doing to the elites in the 1970s. That is why i am so honored, so happy to welcome charlie kirk today. We need his voice, cant wait to hear what he has to say and we are thrilled to have him at the nixon library. Thank you for coming. [applause] great to be here, thank you so much, thank you to the Leadership Team at the library. It is a long month this week. We crisscrossed the country a couple times, from new york to dc, vero beach, florida, back to florida for a couple stops yesterday, welcome in florida this morning and here we are. We have a country to save and we got to act like it. It has been amazing, thank you. I want to thank you for getting your copies of the book. It is still number one on amazon which is amazing. Very pleased by that, overwhelmed by the response by this book. I want to dive into what is important and what i think the media is missing about donald trump, why he is doing what he is doing. I run turning point usa, the largest conservative student organization, 2000 tasteless College Campuses across the country. Fighting thank you. Fighting for american exceptionalism, the constitution, it is not always easy, we play with a sense of urgency to what americas culture war. Our philosophy is the left has been winning for the last 40 years and we are going to go where conservatives have been losing the last couple decades, you see what we have been able to do on campuses and longterm that will be an important legacy at turning point usa when you see sizable change in the next generation. That is part of why i wrote this book would i have been so blown away by the success of the Trump Presidency and is important to recount those and focus on how he has been able to succeed but equally anxious because i dont want to see the republican putting her back to Big Government management, appeasement a energies, endless wars overseas, silly immigration policies and bowing down to china and i think donald trump has positively recalibrated the Republican Party for generations and it is important to learn from it so our generation continues the success of the Trump Administration for the better. First and foremost i wrote this book partly for that reason but most important we as i was watching cable news and reading newspapers and kept coming across these leftwing prognosticators and pundits telling me what donald trump believed. I said you hate him, you hate all of us and i am supposed to listen to you . Donald trump is doing this because he wants to enrich his businesses or has no guiding philosophy, and unguided missile shooting up tweets in the middle of the night and i have spent time with him and with the first family. I have seen what he has been able to deliver for our country. Why is no one articulating the doctrine of the Trump Presidency . You dont stumble accidentally into bread corsets, Circuit Court judges, the largest tax cut in American History, lowest black unemployment and latino unemployment, energy independence, soleimani dead, embassy moving to jerusalem, Golan Heights recognized a deal canceled, out of the paris climate record, we have put our enemies on defense because we produce our own shale and oil. Thats not an accident. Every president in both parties would have had a track record of success. When i was traveling the country talking too many people in this room a common question i would get is what have these people been doing the last 20 years . Look like this guy is running circles around the conventional wisdom. That is why i went out to write the book, who did you interview for this book . I did talk to the president but also i went to rally after rally, people who wait hundreds of hours for a chance to see the president of the United States speak for 30 minutes was i went to a kickoff rally in florida where people spend 200 hours through tsunami like conditions in minnesota where people waited outside in negative 10 degree weather. Im sure you appreciate this, that is not normal. There is no band. Its not bon jovi, there is no comedian, sometimes there is a comedian with the president but he is so much funnier than the latenight comedians ever will be. Ever noticed, seriously, that latenight comedy shows, applauding an audience for not laughing because they are not laughing. Is a political talkshow 11 00 at night. I asked myself what is it that drives these people to wait so long at these rallies, to take days off of work, to feel as if they are part of something and it hit me, goes back to something in the federalist papers, citizen government. For the first time in many decades people finally believe there is a vessel that listens to the man delivers for them. The irony of the whole thing, you wouldnt have been able to write this in a novel, took billionaire businessman who is supposed to be as disconnected as anyone from you to represent you in the kingdom of washington dc. When he came down the escalator he changed american politics for good because when you go to these rallies and talk to these people the consensus was i felt like i was losing my country, like both parties were participating in it, the Republican Party talked a good game and did nothing to fix it. I was so sick and tired of politics as usual. I wanted someone with a brooklyn brawl to blow it all up. That is kind of special and poetic. People say i dont like his tweets, i will address this one time and one time only and heres the best way i can address it. America was drowning in the middle of the ocean under the managed decline of both Political Parties of the last 20 years. Both parties contributed to this, Big Government management, adventurism abroad when the country is crumbling and in the middle of the night when we are gasping for air a rescue helicopter brings us to life and we are able to breathe again and the first thing you say to the person that rescues us is i dont like your tweet history. We are breathing again. It is irrelevant. Like the heart surgeon that finally, thank you for the triple bypass surgery, hate your tweets but glad we are breathing again not to mention i could make an argument the twitter feed said the cadence, a public northstar for every Single Person to understand what the president is trying to accomplish and keep people accountable because traditionally you hold a press conference, the media wont always cover it but now there is a realtime standard, realtime accountability measure for everyone to see what the president is thinking and doing. I think he is hilarious. I like a politician that is outside the Cocktail Party say one thing do another thing consensus in washington dc. I dont care if you vent a couple people, i like that he punches back twice as hard because i feel our politicians havent been fighting for our country for the last couple decades and have been perfectly okay with this managed decline. When i heard this time and again i said that is the thesis of the Trump Presidency. First and foremost when you go to the doctor use a give me the bad news first, tell me everything that is going on that is bad and donald trump in his announcement address was pretty brutal. He said we are losing, borders are wide open, trade deals are stupid, china is laughing at us, our economy is ony, obama care is a disaster, courts are compromised, the deep state is to ripped, this is in the first 30 seconds. It is the first honest assessment they received in a long time and that is the first part of his doctrine and philosophy. I will tell it to the american people. Im not going to sugarcoat it, tell you one thing when it is actually another. The second thing is what ideas are rooted in renewal of a nation and to understand the historical significance of what he is trying to do and getting opposition to do, to recess a tater country that was in managed decline and it was so improbable to do what he is doing, when you have a superpower, 47, 50, 55 million on food stamps it is hard to turn that around. The Founding Fathers warned us against this, one of the most amazing accomplishment of the Trump Presidency that never gets mentioned is 10 Million People are off of food stamps and donald trump got inaugurated. That is historic because for the first time in our countrys history, first time in modern american political history we were able to turn that around and that is something that was the demise of the roman empire and many other empires when people vote themselves donald trump convinced people in the electorate there is not dignity in voting more benefits for yourself. How about we create the greatest economy in American History, bring dignity back to forgotten america so he runs on this, the historical improbability is so amazing, you see what happens on the democrat side, you see this, make everyone kiss the ground and thank god donald trump was able to decide the odds the way he was because senator sanders will probably get screwed out of this thing because the establishment doesnt want him to be the nominee, for good reasons maybe. He is a redline advocate and Castro Simply and i hear he is a really nice guy but joe bidens political strategy is the most perplexing political strategy i have ever seen. Confuse your wife with your sister, dont know what state youre campaigning in, dont remember the name of barack obama or the declaration or the constitution, tell people not to vote for you and call them pony faced dog soldiers and finish fifth and sixth in the first couple contests, meander into topics no one cares about them have rallies that are only a couple dozen people and eventually you will be the last person standing. It will go down as one of the most puzzling political strategies in American History and a lot of it was because Michael Bloombergs failure is the worst politician in American History, he ran a board meeting, i dont know. Essentially bloomberg reset the race and biden, essentially the economic equivalent, political equivalent of a treasury bond, a flight to safety. What is the one thing i can put my money in, dont care if it has no return. For those of you, joe biden, got it. And so i actually make the argument, this is a minority opinion i would rather run against joe biden than bernie sanders. I would rather run against corrupt and confused than authentic and free stuff. I dont want to validate or elevate a marxist ideology to the highest level of american political party. I would rather run up against someone who is half socialist half not and completely and totally corrupt and the most corrupt Vice President in American History which was joe biden. I would rather have that matchup for our country and some people disagree but definitely with the target audience i deal with senator sanders has more appeal than joe biden. You see the establishment rot on the left and the fact that donald trump was able to defeat 16 republicans, beat the bush dynasty, beat the media complex in the attempt to destabilize him. I was a Governor Walker and senator cruise supporter and donald trump supporter, from the midwest, i had my understandable doubt this guy would deliver for the conservative agenda. As soon as he was the nominee wasnt a question. I spoke at the convention, traveled the country, put everything on the line and said there is no choice, this is over, not even a conversation but from the moment, i spent more time with donald trump junior and eric trump, deserve huge amounts of credit because it took a lot of courage to have that. You started to see the fact he won the primary was remarkable. The fact he won the general is even more incredible. I talk this will, the media ridicules me. I believe it truly was a godsend that donald trump got elected president , i really believe that. I really do. I believe that it was nothing short of divine intervention that came down and allowed america to have a Second Chance so he gets elected, he gets inaugurated in 17 minutes after he gets inaugurated they say the case for impeaching donald trump now begins. This is so important. I talk about it in the book. He is very easily could have hedged. He could have become a vanilla republican to try to get them off his back. The Mueller Investigation was a hoax. When they were probing mueller, it was a warning shot, they said stop it or we will come after you. Dont move the embassy, dont cancel the iran deal and we wont put
