We are going next. There are two paths that could be takeno is close to being f we morning but we are going to do after a day are going to get a big victory but thats something theyve been working on forap a lo time. Great credit to their effort to get it across the finish le. Wat and the group that hes been working with on the police reforms. I tus amount of good work and we are making good progressd on the. I also hope that we can in billx4 if something people he worked hard on it have consultation with leaders in the various communities, Law Enforcement, Africanamerican Community and i think weve put together a good balance t developer should enjoy broad bipartisan support enacted into law signed by president. They are continuing to work on the relief anu as you all know e are hearings going on h every we committees are working on different aspects of god and some of those ideas will start to comeea together on what we nd to d next. Based on what we are seeing out there and what their needs are and trying to determine the dollars that weve already allocated and how effective they have been and what things we need to be d differently. I have a piece of legislation that i hope to be included in the next bill. There will be the state line, nurses and doctors in some states for a certain amount of time they get you for that. So we have a bill that would eliminate the taxation for people who have been helping out in the relief efforts by going into other states tomorrow we gostice act. It has the duty to intervene Excessive Force and provides more for Police Officers and thats done a lot to show americans that happens in certain instances that we would never want to happen again a in america i and to provide resours to make sure good Police Officers can do more and provides the resources to make sure thatofficers were taken ofe field, off of the force. The resources pay for performance and we need the terms of accountability, transparency and training. This is something that ought to be bipartisan and passed overwhelmingly. Theres a cple of things it es not include and that is that the funding of the police. I know that is the cry of the liberal left. Theres none of us could have supported our side of the aisle and putting the attorney gener in charge of all of the Police Forces and all it hundred and Police Officers in america but its something that its time now to get this don to support the center o tomorrow. I support the bill tim scott will intdu be the original cosponsor of the bill. Y to respond to the legislative process is the executive branch doing what they can and as soon as they can to make a differen difference. E Justice Department has the tools to give advice and asks. Thats not the National Government taking over police. Thats the Justice Department looking at one problem and one department with a systemic problem and deciding they are in problem. But also i was glad of this morning to see the president talk a policing efforts that deal with Mental Health and homelessness and addiction. In our state we are one of those in thehe past four years or so that have been treated in a number of locations around the state. Mental health liker all other health some of the big advocates of that have become the police fdepartment, hhs has statistics that indicate in states like missouri there is excellence in the time spent in jail is 60 less because people dont go jail normally because when people are picked up, they go somewhere more appropriate for the problem they are dealing with van jail or court. They go to the mental counselor or somewhere they get the chance to stay and fd out where the help they need can be acedissues that we saw for two r loss of jobsonsistently for one and isolation heading back up those are the kind of things nobody is better positioned than the adminition to begin to advocate right away and i was glad to see the president did today. I think we are all going to doe for his great work and so many of our colleagues in putting together what we think will be a very Strong Police reform bill. A number of things that are important enough though of courseng transparency. We need greater datawe need gren our police departments. And the o information that is pulling up to thflowing up to tl government especially if we are sharing tax federal tax dollars with those local drug d greater training and im glad to hear the phasis in the areas of training making sure that our Law Enforcement officials know what is Excessive Force, with appropriate, what is not in certain situations and especially the consideration cos that we hope will be given to those that are dling with issues of Mental Health and so forth. One thing i hope ends up in the relative position ive been workf2g on with senators bucher and blumenthal even before a umnumb happened in the past but its knownpe theaw enforcement consent. The guards are taking advantage of the position of authority and engaging in ill advisedh activities with those that are in prison. So, certainly we need to wrap up the loophole. The funding of police is a far left talking point. We are going nowhere witht. Lawenforcement officials are properly trained and supported with the resources they need to protect our communities. Finally i started my 99 county to her again, and i think this is a great way going back to my home state, spending time at home, visiting with the mmunities that haveen been impacted. T im heang from the community is that we are very thankful for the opportunities that existed in the care package to keep the Small Businesses andli glad to y of those folks back home understanding what the challenges are and are continuing to be as we move forward but then how weve also been able to support them during their time of crisis. Thank you. The endless think its itas continues to bld with respect to basic Scientific Research and technological development. Also introduced to make sure that the Workers Benefit from all of those productivity enhancements which will lead to increased wages. Perhaps most immediately i introduced the legislation to counter the similar investments in the related cuttingedge technologies that we know are going to define just the geopolitics of the f ure but it also the futur world economy. We are still in the midst of this pandemic and its quite clear they intend to use this t. The academy produced a report on the following the crisis into an opportunity to increase the trust and dependence of all countries around the world and made in china. We are not going to let that happen. We are not going to let the chinese continue to dominate the research with Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing and advanced manufacturing Materials Science and energy the united. States can and must continue to lead in these areas. Its in our National Security interest in economic interest and that is why it is so portant at this time. I hope the United States doesni set the bar to vote as w too lok to emerge from this pandemic. Instead, we need to be thinking in both terms as we historically have done. We need to invest in rsso that e the decision do they want to prevent this bill from going to the floor or do they want to try to change it. But what i envision and im fully aware that it takes 60 votes to get something out of the senate so it would be up to them to decide how to handle this. They could either shoot it down as insufficient or be willing to take the risk to see what changes if any we all agree to basically asked the senator pointed out, they want to federalize all of these issues. That is a nonstarter the house version is going nowhere in the senate. Its basically typical democratic overreach to try to coro in washington. We have no interest in math. In [inaudible] what we will try to do here is pass a law and they have different opinions but i think that its more of an important subject that needs to be addressed and it means more than talking about it. Its to try to accomplish something and a good example of that is the bill that is on the floor right now. We are in the process of making it law not just making itxnb1 a point. Senar there to applaud what they were doing in the executive order and then we looked forward to passing lislation. It may not be exactly like the executive order in every respect but as i said in answer to the question here, we are going to try to actually make a and look forward to calling the bill up and i will let you know in the morning whether it is next. [inaudible] one anecdote you might be interesting to a fe interested y dad work for a couple of years in augusta georgia and i can assure y none of us knew who gordon was. I am a descendent of a confederate veteran myselfo thia bridge too far is this nonsense that we need to airbrushh the capital and scrub outom years ay connec that were. Es washington did, not ascended,gt munro did. As far as the statutes are nncerned, every state get two of them and any state can trade out. Some are choosing to for one reason or another. But with my regards to the military bases, whatever is ultimately decided, i do not have a problem with it. Im giving you my opinion. [inaudible] there is still obviously racism in america. We are still paying the price of many years ago. We are constantly working to improve and we all saw the video out of minneapolis there is no denying what happened and we are trying to respond to that at the federal level. I will dide at what point. Thank you. L
