Cumbria Police issue plea as public order incidents in pubs soar

They have appealed to the public to “be sensible and stay safe”.
One Whitehaven landlady was delighted to welcome back customers but has had to put someone out every day since reopening as a result of them not adhering to the rules of lockdown.
Copeland Police issued a statement saying: “It’s been a busy weekend for the Copeland Proactive Team who have dealt with a number of incidents of public order following the ease of lockdown restrictions in the pubs.
“It’s nice to se businesses back open but can we remind people to be sensible and stay safe when drinking.”
