Cumbrian emergency services warn public after drownings

EMERGENCY services across the county have warned people about entering the open water over the weekend after a number of tragic incidents involving drowning in the past week.
The weekend is set to be another scorcher with temperatures predicted to reach as high as 26 degrees in the area.
Crews from Carlisle East Fire Station went down to the River Eden on Thursday to create a video advising people what to do when going into the water
A firefighter from the station said: "What we stress is that non-swimmers never go above your knees"
They advised anyone who felt as if they were getting into trouble to lie back and form a star shape to allow the body to float.
