The Hawk Eye DANVILLE — Voters living within the boundaries of the Danville School District will decide on March 2 whether to approve how the district intends to spend its sales tax revenue. The Legislature in May approved the extension of the Secure an Advanced Vision for Education, which is funded by a one-cent statewide sales tax and distributed to school districts throughout the state, through the end of 2049. Each district must have a revenue purpose statement for how that money will be spent. Danville's revenue purpose statement expired in December. "Our old revenue purpose statement expired, so we have to put a new one in place," Superintendent Thomas Ward said. "This is not a tax burden. We have to get approval from our taxpayers on how we spend the money."
