Davao targets to vaccinate at least 1,000 jail personnel, inmates

DAVAO CITY – The City Health Office (CHO) has started the inoculation of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) and jail personnel at the Davao City Jail (DCJ) last week.
According to Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the COVID-19 Task Force, the CHO is targeting to vaccinate 1,000 jail personnel and inmates as part of the government’s action to achieve herd immunity.
Data from the Davao City Vaccination Cluster shows that as of July 16, a total of 555 priority individuals, including senior citizens and persons with comorbidities were inoculated.
In a statement from the City Information Office, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Davao’s Community Relations Service and Inmates Welfare and Development chief Captain Ellen Rose Garcia said that “of the 555 vaccinated individuals, 489 were PDLs from DCJ-annex and 66 are BJMP personnel.”
