Davao targets to vaccinate at least 1,000 jail personnel, inmates

Published July 19, 2021, 1:33 PM DAVAO CITY – The City Health Office (CHO) has started the inoculation of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) and jail personnel at the Davao City Jail (DCJ) last week. According to Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the COVID-19 Task Force, the CHO is targeting to vaccinate 1,000 jail personnel and inmates as part of the government’s action to achieve herd immunity. Data from the Davao City Vaccination Cluster shows that as of July 16, a total of 555 priority individuals, including senior citizens and persons with comorbidities were inoculated. In a statement from the City Information Office, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Davao’s Community Relations Service and Inmates Welfare and Development chief Captain Ellen Rose Garcia said that “of the 555 vaccinated individuals, 489 were PDLs from DCJ-annex and 66 are BJMP personnel.”

Nearly 500 IPs get Covid-19 vax

June 28, 2021 MORE than 500 members of the indigenous peoples (IP) communities in Marilog District, Davao City were already administered with the Covid-19 vaccines as belonging to A5 priority group. According to the Davao City Vaccination Cluster data as of June 24, a total of 497 doses were already administered with the first dose, while 25 were already administered with the second dose. Davao City Covid-19 Vaccine Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio Friday, June 25, that the A5 group is prioritized in the allocation of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Villafuerte also said that those from Priority A1 group or workers in frontline health services, A2 or senior citizens, and A3 (persons with comorbidities) will also be allocated with the Pfizer vaccine. This is in accordance with the National Vaccine Deployment for Covid-19 of the Department of Health (DOH).
