Premium Content Subscriber only Thousands have turned out to take part in Dawn Services on the Sunshine Coast after COVID forced people to commemorate from their homes last year. A moving ceremony started under the cover of darkness in Beerwah at 4.28am. It was at that time on April 25, 1915, Australian and New Zealand troops landed under fire at Gallipoli. The eventual toll was massive as 36,141 young Australians and New Zealanders perished. It was on the shores of that Turkish beach and in the campaign that followed that the Anzac tradition was born. Sunshine Coast residents turned out to pay their respects at Dawn Services across the region.
