Deaths linked to COVID-19 have dropped dramatically in the Danbury area. Here's why.

DANBURY — At Danbury Hospital, far fewer people have been dying from COVID-19.
“It’s an intermittent phenomenon here,” said Dr. Jeffrey Nicastro, chief medical officer for Nuvance Health, which includes Danbury, Norwalk and New Milford hospitals. “We still have an occasional death with COVID. There is no doubt.”
The state reported one death of a Danbury resident on Wednesday — the first death in the city since April 12. Thirteen towns surrounding Danbury have not reported any deaths since April 12, when the state recorded four for the area.
