A HOSPICE has launched an appeal - focusing on sunflowers and encouraging the community to rally round and support patient care. Saint Catherine's Hospice has launched its annual Sunflower Memories Appeal in North Yorkshire - including Ryedale, York, Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington and Driffield. The sunflower is used as the emblem as it represents "love, admiration, loyalty, positivity and strength." There will be a selection of sunflower-themed items for sale, such as limited-edition pin badges and metal sunflowers for the garden, which can be purchased on the hospice's website. Susan Stephenson, communications and marketing manager, said: “It has been a year like no other – and a difficult winter as we have faced the ongoing challenges of Covid-19.
