Delaware on Wednesday reported that 400 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in the state as of 6 p.m. Tuesday. The figure represents an increase of 24 from the day prior and the most hospitalizations ever reported by the state. The state estimates its hospital capacity for COVID-19 patients is between 400 and 500 on any given day, differing based on how many people need other types of treatment. In the spring, Delaware never breached its hospital capacity. The fall surge of the virus has since brought a record number of infections — and with it an increasing number of daily hospitalizations. Since the start of November, hospitalizations in Delaware have more than tripled.
