Delaware Online story helps unclog a paperwork jam hurting immigrants at application center

At the core of our journalism at Delaware Online is a desire to bring positive change.
That happened this week with our story about how 4,000 applications for visas and other necessary paperwork for Delaware immigrants were waiting to be processed at the state's only Application Support Center. This was due to reduced hours and staffing shortages resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Delaware has only one facility that processes applications for visas and other paperwork that immigrants here need. During the pandemic, the hours at the facility were cut back to eight a week and the applications piled up.
