Walmart announced that it is partnering with HomeValet, a temperature-controlled smart box company, to launch a new grocery delivery pilot program that will deliver items 24 hours a day. The delivery pilot program will have the ability to deliver groceries in a contact-free way, using the smart box technology to keep food at the necessary temperature. The pilot program will be tested adjacent to the Walmart headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas and it will start completing deliveries during this upcoming spring. The HomeValet smart boxes have three temperature-controlled areas, meaning food items can be sorted by frozen items, refrigerated items, or pantry items. Delivery personal are also able to communicate with the smart box, providing secure access.
