PEORIA — A Central Peoria location that once was home to a car wash is poised to be home to another car wash. Tommy's Express Car Wash is to occupy the vacant lot at 2145 N. Knoxville Ave. That address was the site of Waterworks Car Wash, part of a regional chain. But that location closed recently and was demolished. Located just south of a McDonald's restaurant, the planned car wash appears to offer more bells and whistles than did its predecessor. Michigan-based Tommy's Express has about 120 locations in at least 11 states, according to its website. About half those locations are open; the rest are under development.
