Office of the Chief Programs Officer New York Preferred Application Deadline: June 14, 2021 The Deputy Executive Director / Chief Programs Officer (CPO) leads Human Rights Watch’s research, advocacy, media and legal work, supervising a staff of almost 300 professionals in more than 50 countries. The CPO is seeking a Deputy Director, Strategy and Collaboration to assist in the development and realization of the organization’s strategic goals, consistent with the core values of transparency, accountability, collaboration, creativity, and excellence. This is a new position, and the Deputy Director will have the opportunity to craft their role to support and enhance the Office of the CPO in supporting an organizational culture where staff thrive and do impactful work. The ideal candidate will facilitate creativity by identifying opportunities to think differently about the human rights challenges of the future and assist the CPO in building systems to foster stronger inter-departmental collaboration. The role will also be responsible for working with the CPO in developing and implementing special projects and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will also develop and support external networks with partner organizations and activists to situate and enhance HRW’s role in the human rights movement. The Deputy Director will ideally be based in New York, and reports to the CPO based in New York.
