The Des Moines' Downtown Farmers' Market returns to Court Avenue this weekend, just in time for spring. Part of the fun of buying fresh produce from the farmers' market is getting whatever produce you want that's in season: Unlike the grocery store, local sellers change their offerings based on the time of year and harvest schedules. But that also means that if you have any spring favorites, they won't be around forever. Kelly Foss, director of the downtown market, has a few tips for what to look for if you plan to pop downtown this weekend. Spring vegetables From scallions to radishes, spring brings the harvest of a wide variety of delicious vegetables. Foss said to check out Dogpatch Urban Gardens, a brand new vendor at the market this year. If you're interested in leafy greens, they'll have you covered with multiple varieties of lettuces, spinach and kale.
