Des Moines Renaissance Faire celebrates 'End of the plague' in 2021

One of the few annual Des Moines metro events that wasn't called off in 2020, the Des Moines Renaissance Faire, is preparing to celebrate the "End of the Plague" May 14-16.
More than 100 touring performers and about 200 costumed village characters will interact with guests and pose for photos in various settings.
Also on the itinerary: a production of "Romeo and Juliet" by Lorenzo Sandoval of the Iowa Shakespeare Experience, multiple outdoor museums, a carousel, craft demonstrations, costume contests, treasure hunts, an artisan merchant market, and more. Ales, mead and period food also will be available — including, of course, turkey legs.
Billed as "the metro's Best Family Fest," the 16th Des Moines Renaissance Faire will be held, as it was last August, at its new site at the Puttmasters-at-the-Pines event park at 2977 N.W. 66th Ave. near Saylorville.
