generally mean? >> stable is a vague term in that regard because someone could be completely unconscious and be stable. we know that's not the case here obviously. it typically is referring to their blood pressure and their heart rate. in a trauma getting it is most reflective of blood loss. that is what you're concerned about. is there ongoing blood his ability to maintain his blood pressure, and it sounds like it has not. he's been able to maintain his blood pressure and his heart rate, breathing on his own. he was able to talk to his wife on the phone. that's typically what they're referring to and you know, it does bode well. it doesn't mean he doesn't need an operation, it doesn't mean it's not significant, it doesn't mean he may not need future operations as a result of this and the indicators are pretty good in terms of his recovery
