will actually be certified no earlier than the 26th of december and no later than the 3rd of january so we've got to make sure that that occurs the way the code prescribes it to occur. >> reporter: so at this point, do you believe there is a chance of a recount? >> well, there's always a chance of a recount because any candidate can ask for a recount, and if they pay for it, they can receive a recount. now, there's an automatic recount provision where .5% of the vote threshold would automatically require that to occur. if that happens, at that point, we would follow the established procedures in the code of alabama. that would mean that a certain amount of votes between the two would have to change from what it is today in order for that to occur. one of those things that may allow that to happen is when those write-in votes are actually counted, that may change the numbers that are actually being considered today as aathentic write-in votes.
