th this, as armed military fighter g jets followed behind. then crashed the plane in a remote area of the city, killing himself. joining us on the phone -- he's not actually on the phone, there you are, live and in person, james. always good to see your beautiful face. i appreciate you being here. he's a law enforcement analyst and retired fbi supervisory special agent. we had a lot of conversations today about this, in particular the fact that the fbi is getting involved in this investigation. why is it important for the fbi to be leading the investigation at this point? >> so, ryan, let's understand and break this down for the viewers. so the fbi's involved in any type of crimes aboard an aircraft. now, there's some arguments about whether or not the federal aviation administration and the u.s. marshal service has jurisdiction over this. any time a plane is on the ground and anything that happens aboard that aircraft, the fbi has purview over that. so that's kind of how the fbi is involved in this.
