meanwhile, both israeli and palestinian leaders are speaking out following secretary of state john kerry's admonishment of israel. matt bradley joins us live from london with more. how is this playing on the ground in the middle east? >> reporter: good morning, chris. reaction to secretary of state john kerry's speech has been fast and very pointed from all sides, but mostly from the u.s. in the reaction, the middle east was surprisingly muted. most of the loudest criticism has come from american politics. mahmoud abbas said on tuesday that the resolution showed that the world rejected settlements. abbas said he hopes a conference in paris in mid-january, just a week before barack obama leaves office, would lead to an international framework for peace. we haven't heard from abbas' office since kerry's speech, though we're expecting a statement today. but netanyahu's scolding of kerry was far more harsh.
