GALESBURG — A distinctive downtown structure could soon be transformed into a brewery that would include a brewpub and event venue. Benedict Developers is seeking a grant from the city of Galesburg for proposed facade renovations at 185 S. Kellogg St. The 18,000 brick building for many years was home to several former car dealerships. It also was the site of Mechanical Service Inc. and served as the former home of KCAPED and the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Separate from the facade work, the project will also include the complete renovation of the interior of the building. Once complete, the project will offer a new taproom with approximately 30 taps, a brew house area and a venue space that would be for events such as weddings, concerts, game tournaments or other community events.
