DUMAGUETE CITY, May 6 (PIA) -- The 17th historical marker now dominates the scenery of the new shoreline view "Pantawan" park of Dumaguete City that marks one of the 34 sites of the Philippine route of the Magellan-Elcano expedition 500 years ago. Local and national officials celebrated the milestone in the history of the country as part of the quincentennial commemorations of the first circumnavigation of the world with the formal unveiling of historical marker for Panilongon (Negros) at Rizal Boulevard, this city. Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles lauded the unveiling of the Panilongon (Negros) marker, which he says is another reason for people to visit and discover Dumaguete City.
