Share Updated: 6:17 PM CDT May 30, 2021 Arkansas baseball clinched its first-ever SEC Tournament title after topping Tennessee 7-2 on Sunday. The Hogs came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and left with a new piece of hardware to add to the trophy case. Jaxon Wiggins got the start for Arkansas. He threw 3.2 innings with five strikeouts and gave up just one run that came when Tennessee got on the board first when Drew Gilbert sent an RBI single through the right side in the bottom of the first inning.The Hogs didn't score until the fifth inning. Jalen Battles singled down the right side to score Cullen Smith followed by a Zack Gregory double that sent Casey Opitz home and gave the Hogs the 2-1 lead. A Matt Goodheart sac fly in the same framed helped Battles cross home plate to make it a 3-1 Arkansas advantage. Battles continued his good day with the bat in the top of the seventh when he sent a long ball to centerfield to help the Hogs go up 4-1. A Robert Moore RBI in the top of the eighth gave Arkansas a 5-2 advantage and then the Hogs added some insurance when Cullen Smith sent out a two-run dinger to centerfield.Kevin Kopps got the call in the seventh and struck out four on the afternoon.Tomorrow, the NCAA will reveal the field of 64 teams who will compete for the baseball championship on ESPN2 at 11 a.m.
