View Comments North Mississippi doesn’t always get a lot of attention, especially the extreme northeastern corner. It should, as this portion of our state contains miles of natural beauty and many wonderful restaurants. Abounding in beauty is 1,530-acre Tishomingo State Park, a Mississippi jewel named to the Top 100 Parks in the U.S. list. Less than an hour away in Corinth is Vicari Italian Grill, an upscale eatery that, despite the name, is known for delicious steaks and seafood in addition to pasta. Tishomingo State Park, located in its namesake town and county, is situated in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. If you’re a history buff, you’ll be interested to learn the park, named for the leader of the Chickasaw nation, is steeped in history. Archaeological excavations confirm the presence of Paleo Indians in the area as early as 7000 B.C. Massive rock formations, boulders and hiking trails present opportunities for rock climbing and exploring.
