Trademark registration According to the DIP manual (issued under the Licence Facilitation Act), the usual timeframe for trademark registration is approximately 16 months. The DIP's recent declaration states that trademark applications which meet the following two conditions will automatically be reviewed (ie, without the need for an additional request) under the new trademark registration fast-track system: the total number of goods or services does not exceed 30 items; and the goods or services are selected from the DIP website. The trademark registration fast-track system will take only six months to approve trademark applications. Trademark renewal According to the DIP manual, the usual timeframe for trademark renewal is between three and six months. The DIP's recent declaration states that the examination of renewal applications and the grant of a certificate of renewal will now be completed within 45 minutes of a renewal application being filed with the DIP, without an additional official fee, provided that the renewal application meets the following conditions:
