Rockland/Westchester Journal News WHITE PLAINS — A large crowd gathered for a vigil Monday held by the family of rapper DMX outside the New York hospital where he has been fighting for his life. "He's iconic," said Tonya Williams, of White Plains, New York, who was among those who gathered for the vigil that started about 5 p.m. "You know, we love him — he's a Westchester legend. He made it." Billy Carter, of Mount Vernon – the Westchester County city where DMX was born – said he "was a down-to-earth person" who "only showed love."
