Dog trapped on Saginaw County island saved after officials alerted by good Samaritan Updated 10:37 AM; Facebook Share JAMES TWP, MI — Drifting along the waterways in his Starcraft fishing boat during the Freeland Walleye Festival, Robert DeBolt noticed an odd site on an uninhabited island: a marooned dog. While DeBolt was unable to rescue the timid canine, he alerted officials to the dog’s plight. Thanks to DeBolt’s action, Saginaw County Animal Care & Control Center officers and Saginaw County Sheriff’s deputies pooled their resources and managed to bring the dog ashore, saving it from a dour fate on the small hunk of land.
