DormMatch: a solution to socializing in the time of COVID-19 DormMatch: a solution to socializing in the time of COVID-19 DormMatch / Screenshot It has been harder than ever for Columbia students to make new connections. Even if a student is back on campus, COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult to socialize—a limitation that has left many first-year students struggling to build their college community. Evan Tilley, SEAS ’22, noticed that there was a demand for social networking among his peers and came up with the idea to implement a matchmaking mobile app that would allow students currently on campus to get to know their neighbors. Tilley worked with Jason Cardinale, SEAS ’22, and Lucas Campa, CC ’23, and launched DormMatch on Feb. 5 on the App Store with the mission of connecting Columbia students with each other in COVID-19 safe ways.
