Driver dies in rollover crash, swerved to avoid train in Northern Michigan Updated Apr 08, 2021; CADILLAC, MI – A 44-year-old Michigan man died in a car crash last week when he swerved to avoid hitting a train and instead struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to roll, police said. Robin Lee Vandewater, 44, of Cadillac, was ejected from the vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Cadillac Police Department. A female passenger was transported to a Cadillac Munson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, on Wright Street west of Bond Street in Cadillac where train tracks cross the road, police said. Cadillac police and fire, and Missaukee County EMS responded to the scene.
