6 hours ago Gulf Today, Staff Reporter Brig. Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, deputy director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions (DPCI) in Dubai said the department set the first and second day of Eid Al Adha to visit inmates, from 8am to noon, during official working times. He added that the visits would be done through a remote visual communication service, in implementation of precautionary measures taken for protection against the new coronavirus. Julfar pointed out that DPCI began putting into effect the virtual service since the start of the pandemic. He added, “Dubai Police are keen that inmates would communicate with their families at different times and events, so we launched a remote communication service, as a humanitarian initiative aimed at enabling persistent communication between them, outside or inside the UAE. We are keen to provide full logistical support, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Artificial Intelligence.”
